“If ever two were one, then surely we. If ever man were loved by wife, then thee. If ever wife was happy in a man, compare with me, ye women, if you can. prize thy love more than whole mines of gold, or all the riches that the world doth hold. My love is such that rivers cannot quench, nor ought but love from thee give recompense. Thy love is such I can no way repay; The heavens reward thee manifold, I pray. Then while we live, in love, let’s so persevere, that when we live no more, we may live ever.”

A win/win for two families

Having been to several weddings in the last few years I can tell you that family vibes are easy to read, very early on. We arrived Friday night before the wedding at a celebratory pre-wedding party with both families and immediately you knew that both sides were ecstatic to finally be able to officially call Erik and Amanda ‘family.’ Before filming a wedding I tend to ask the Bride “is there anyone here that you don’t want filmed or in the video?” and it isn’t to secretly be mean to someone but instead it might be because someone had a +1 and brought a guest that may be completely unknown to the official wedding party, or a boy/girlfriend that’s still relatively new to everyone (and let’s face it, sometimes these things don’t quite work out so no need to have this person in your timeless wedding film, right?); what I got from Amanda was “Nope! We love everyone here and want to see all of their faces!” And that’s the kind of thing you want to hear when filming a wedding and hoping to make it a timeless product.

Filming win/win’s is a thing of beauty. You get so much to cover and it just makes this profession all the more sweet; from the coolest uncle ever, officiating, to emotional parents who couldn’t help but bask in the love of growing families, emotional speeches, to personal vows from the couple, and even a guest appearance by a couple of tortoises, this wedding was a win/win for me, too.

Erik & Amanda: Highschool Sweethearts turned eternal lovers.

It’s hard to be an unbeliever in the termsoulmates’ when you hear that a couple of teens in high school committed to one another, and then committed with making it through college, a long distance relationship, and reinforcing that commitment while juggling careers, finding a place to call home, bringing a dog into your commitment (I also have a dog named Charlie, lol) and then, through all of that still coming to the conclusion that extra commitment is a wonderful thing. That’s a classic marriage story and worth telling again and again.

This is one of those stories that perhaps we only expect to see in Hollywood films but hey, this is real! A proof that soulmates exist. Once you are destined to be with someone, there is nothing that will separate you.

Temecula Creek Cottages

Things I learned about the Temecula Creek Cottages: The grounds of the venue are tucked away in a secluded canyon in the beautiful, wine country town of Temecula, CA. These quaint cottages date back to the early 1900s when the area served as a granite quarry. Today, instead of sheltering quarrymen, the cottages and surrounding stone-and-granite tiers offer a quiet getaway and an opportunity to have a romantic wedding. It’s an all-in-one venue in a small footprint but still feels quite large because of the scenery change between the cottages, ceremony lawn, and reception area. This area is filled with large oak and almond trees that provide plenty of shade and ambiance for your friends and family.

All of this is set against a mountainside background of natural scrub oaks and a smattering of granite boulders.

What an honor it was to film at the Temecula Creek Cottages, to film these Two who are now One.

Ricky was the best surprise videographer hand-picked by our incredible photographer. We never met him nor did we tell him what we wanted or needed in our video. Truly, we didn’t know how good of hands we were in until we saw the 30 second teaser and I was in a puddle of tears of utter happiness.
To be able to tell a story that evokes such strong emotion in a wedding video is a gift. Most wedding videos are sweet and beautiful but Ricky’s video captured personal moments with sentimentality that is rare to find.
The video was never cheesy, never flashy, never wannabe “Vogue”, swoopy, nor trying to be too artsy or trendy. Also, I’m so glad my voice was not on that video and I’m so relieved Ricky took that risk to go a little off the usual script and was able to tell a compelling story.

Thank you Ricky for your editing and story-telling magic and professionalism.
Anyone interested in hiring this man, do not hesitate. Book him now! You won’t be disappointed.
